How to Get More Google Reviews (Without Breaking the Rules)

Five glowing red stars above a sample Google review and review-link QR card

Your reviews do two jobs. They convince customers to call you, and they're one of the biggest signals Google and AI tools use to decide who to show and recommend.

The good news: most happy customers are glad to leave a review. They just need you to ask, and to make it easy.

Thank you, Alex. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

1. Ask at the right moment

The best time to ask is right after a win: the job is finished, the customer is smiling, the driveway looks perfect. Don't wait a week.

2. Make it one tap

Get your direct Google review link from your Google Business Profile. Then put it everywhere:

  • A QR code on a small card or flyer you hand out after each job
  • A text message right after the job ("Thanks again! Would you mind leaving us a quick review? [link]")
  • Your email signature and invoices
  • A Reviews page on your website

If you have more than one location, give each location its own link and QR code.

3. Reply to every review, by name

Thank people for good reviews. Respond calmly and professionally to bad ones. Future customers read your replies, and replying shows Google you're an active, real business.

4. Follow the rules

  • Don't buy reviews or post fake ones.
  • Don't offer discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews.
  • Don't have family, friends or employees review you. Google can remove those, and it puts your profile at risk.
  • Don't only ask happy customers through a filter. Ask everyone the same way.

5. Make it a habit

One review request after every single job adds up fast. A business finishing ten jobs a week has ten chances a week.

What about bad reviews?

You can flag reviews that break Google's rules, like spam, fake reviews or someone who was never a customer. You can't remove honest reviews. The best response is a professional reply and a steady stream of new good reviews.
